Personal Review - Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana

We are home now, settling back into reality and I wanted to share my personal review of one of the top family all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. I know this one is on the list for many of you! This was a vacation, but I'm always working when traveling. Reviewing, making notes, and building relationships with my preferred brands.

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana has continuously been one of my best selling properties since it opened in 2019...and here is why!

Location:

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is located in the exclusive gated community of Cap Cana in DR. Only 15 minutes from Punta Cana Airport which is a huge plus! We're used to doing a 2 hour transfer when in Jamaica, so this was a nice change.

Resort Features:

This property is one of the best when it comes to family all inclusive. We've been lucky to travel to most of the top family brands and this definitely exceeds the 5 star rating expectation. It is the perfect size, our kids were able to easily navigate the property on their own and everything is within a 5 minute walking distance.

The waterpark is amazing with slides for all ages and bravery levels and the lazy river was a huge hit for everyone,

My kids aren't into the kids club anymore but they did hang out in the teen zone which had ping pong, air hockey and video games. For smaller kids, the kids club is fantastic with daily activities. The clubhouse even has a treehouse inside. Super cool for the littles. There isn't a whole lot of nightlife here. The Martini bar on the adults only side is a must visit (and you must have a lemon drop!) and our go to was the sports bar at night which was well equipt with a million tv's, snacks, fun drinks and pool tables. We were there during hockey play offs so some fun nights cheering (and crying...Bruins fans) were had.

Room: Families of 5 can be tricky. In the past we've had to book two rooms or upgraded or a large suite. A huge bonus of this resort is the fact that the standard room categories accommodate up to 5 people. We had a Club Level Jr. Suite Oceanview Double which had two queen beds and a pull out sofa. More than enough room for all of us. We were really only in the room to sleep.

Club Level included extra enhancements such as access to the beautiful Club pools, butler service (Manuel was amazing!), access to the VIP lounge and beachfront a la carte restaurants for breakfast and lunch. We're pretty low maintenance when it comes to butler service, but it was nice to have Manuel available for any requests we had.

Food: Ok, DR isn't always known as a destination with great food. But...let me tell you. This resort is different! The food was outstanding. The buffet here is mostly made to order food stations, fresh and delicious (similar to the old Marche in Toronto). There was a grill station each night where you select your choice (t-bone, sirloin, prawns, lobster etc) and the chef would grill it for you. Apparently it's bulking season for my hockey boys lol so they took full advantage of the delicious food and I feel we definitely got our money's worth! We tried each of the a la cartes. Each felt like a dining experience with excellent ambiance and service and not your typical all inclusive meal.

Beach: It was better than I expected! The water in Cap Cana can sometimes be a little murky, and while it's gorgeous to look at it's not always the best to swim in. Well we lucked out! The beach was clear, calm and gorgeous all week. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and walking up and down the beautiful shore. At times I would look at the beach and it would remind me a lot of Turks and Caicos, the pure white sand and electric turquoise water. Stunning.

Service: I can't say enough about the staff that works at this special resort. They truly are the heart and soul. Service was beyond amazing. The staff is genuine and lovely and cannot do enough for their guests.

Price point: This is a true 5 star luxury all inclusive property, you get what you pay for. Little things like more than enough lounge chairs, an abundance of towels, excellent coffee, top shelf liquor and luxurious furnishings all go into the experience of staying here.

I am always happy to answer any questions you might have! This resort always sells out quickly so booking early is key. Now having stayed here as a vacationer and not just a travel advisor, I have the added first hand experience of being here as a mom which is always helpful!

We are taking on fall/winter bookings so if you're interested in looking further into this property or any others please reach out via email caitlin.lajeunesse@fcitravel.ca
