That Time I Gave a Trip Away!
One of my favourite things to do is to make someone’s day. Normally that comes with planning their vacation, or sending my three favourite words - you. are. booked!
In all honesty there has been much more cancelling than planning lately, and many disappointed clients who have had to postpone their trips (however, we are all starting to get excited about traveling again!). So how is it possible to have had a highlight of my 15 year travel career happen during a global pandemic?
Let me tell you...
In late April 2020 I received a call from my amazing Playa Resorts BDM Amanda Morris. We had been keeping in close contact during this time in regards to clients, cancellations, policy updates etc.
However, this was an exciting call, a happy call! Imagine that?!
Amanda informed me that not only had I been one of her top sales producers in the 2019/2020 year (you all know I love Playa!) but that she was presenting me with the opportunity to give away a trip to a local hero. My heart grew about a million times. I instantly knew who the recipient would be. Emma of course! An amazing local nurse at Cambridge Memorial. One of the sweetest, most caring people you could ever meet. A true nurse at heart.
I surprised Emma with a beautiful gift bag from The Art of Home (my favourite local boutique!) which included goodies for her to take along on her trip, a beautiful custom card from June and Dot AND a four night getaway to any of Playa's outstanding properties.
Here's the best part. When I asked Emma who she would be bringing as her guest (hubby? one of the kids?) she said she will take a fellow nurse so she can share the gift with them. Heart is full! We've been having fun talking about the options and have decided that the destination will be the exceptional Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana where truly they will be treated like royalty. A white sand beach and a tropical cocktail will be waiting for these two well deserving ladies when the time is right.
